This Privacy Policy explains how Finnypal ("we", "our", or "the app") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our mobile application. By using Finnypal, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information

When you create a Finnypal account, we collect:

Email address
Full name
Encrypted password
(If you sign in with Google) your Google account ID and email

1.2 Financial Data

Finnypal helps you track your personal finances. We store the financial information you choose to enter, including:

Transaction amounts, categories, dates, and notes
Budget limits you set
Asset and liability information you enter
Recurring transaction settings

We do not access your bank accounts, credit cards, or any financial institution directly. All financial data is manually entered by you.

1.3 Usage Information

We automatically collect limited technical data to maintain and improve the App:

Device type and operating system version
App version
Crash reports and error logs

1.4 Information We Do NOT Collect

We do not connect to your bank accounts, UPI apps, or any financial institution.
We do not access your SMS, phone contacts, or call logs.
We do not collect your location data.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

Provide and maintain the Finnypal service
Authenticate your identity and manage your account
Sync your data across your devices
Calculate your financial health score and budget alerts
Improve the app based on aggregated usage patterns
Communicate with you about service updates or issues

3. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure cloud servers operated by Supabase, which uses industry-standard encryption both in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest (AES-256). Authentication is handled via Supabase Auth using bcrypt-hashed passwords.

While we take reasonable security measures, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure. You acknowledge this risk when using the app.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal or financial data to anyone.

We share data only in these limited cases:

Service Providers: Supabase (database hosting) and Google (if you use Google Sign-In) — these providers are bound by their own privacy policies and process data on our behalf.
Legal Requirements: If required by law, court order, or government request.
Family Sharing: If you choose to invite family members to share a financial account, your shared transactions become visible to them. You control this feature entirely.

We do not use any advertising SDKs, analytics trackers, or social media pixels.

5. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access your data: View all transactions, assets, and account info from within the app.
Export your data: Use the CSV export feature in the More tab to download your data at any time.
Delete your account: Delete your account and all associated data from the App settings, or contact us via email.
Correct your data: Edit transactions and account info directly from the app.
Withdraw consent: Stop using the App and delete your account at any time.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data as long as your account is active. If you delete your account:

Your account and personal information are permanently deleted within 30 days.
Anonymised aggregate data may be retained for analytics as it cannot be used to identify you.

7. Children's Privacy

Finnypal is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such data, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Significant changes will be communicated through the app or by email. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent version. Your continued use of the App after any changes indicates your acceptance of the updated policy.
